Oil Tips for Hotties

As a die hard New Englander, sometimes flashes of long cold, snowy, icy winters enter my brain and, simply out of principle, I tend to stay out just a little longer than my (all natural) sunscreen lasts.  We all have those moments. :) Maybe we go in and out of the lake, pool or ocean too many times and protection wears off, maybe we’re only going out for “just a minute”, maybe we think, “I have a good base, I won’t get burned”, or perhaps we forgot that those doTERRA citrus oils are photosensitive and shouldn’t be used when going out in the sun!  That burn is not only painful but can ruin future days of outside activities. Try this blend for a soothing and calming after sun spray.

After Sun Spray: In a 12 ounce glass spray bottle, combine the following oils: 8💧 lavender, 8 💧melaleuca, 8 💧peppermint and 10 💧roman chamomile with ¼ cup of Fractionated Coconut Oil and 1 cup of aloe juice, and 1 tsp of Vitamin E oil. (I use natural aloe from my plant and squeeze the juice into the bottle) Feel free to use a combination of any of the oils above for your own personal blend that will soothe the pain and calm the skin.

The lavender and frankincense touch are also personal favorites of mine. Last summer at the beach, I didn’t have spf on my lips and my bottom lip puffed up to look like a collagen truck had hit my mouth.  I used both the Frankincense and Lavender Touch rollers on my lips and by morning, the swelling had gone down and looked much less Jagger-esque. Always great to keep a little on hand.

A gentle summer warning:

the following oils are photosensitive and shouldn’t be used in places exposed to the sun within 12 hours of application: AromaTouch, Bergamot, doTERRA Breathe, doTERRA Cheer, Citrus Bliss, Cumin, Elevation, doTERRA Forgive, Grapefruit, InTune, Kumquat, Lemon, Lime, doTERRA Motivate, doTERRA On Guard, Purify, Slim & Sassy, Sunny Citrus, Tangerine, Wild Orange, and Zendocrine
